Like I said before, I love me some Carly Phillips! This book is no exception. Cole rocked my freaking socks off. I don't know if it was his rugged exterior or the fact that underneath it all, he has a heart of gold.. Either way; he did something to me that made me dive into the book and not put it down. In fact, I read it 3 times since I received it and it got better each time.
Erin isn't someone who throws caution to the wind very often. So imagine the shock she gets when the ONE time she decides to do so - it comes right back to bite her in the butt. She decided to throw that caution to the wind when it came to having a one night stand with Cole. Not being one for just one nighters she decided "why not?" What does one do when that one night ends up becoming the rest of you life, because now there is this small thing called pregnancy. Throw in the fact that the father of said soon to be baby is only in town long enough to rest between his last assignment and his next. Now she has someone after her. Someone nameless person who, as of right now, has no face. With her and her babies life in danger, can she trust the very person who she KNOWS will run out on her in the very end?
Cole is damaged. His past is something that holds him back on a day to day basis, and is now the very thing that will ruin any and every thing he could possibly have with Erin and his soon to be child. His father berates him every chance he gets and he has pretty much made up his mind that he is going to end up alone forever - it's just better that way. On one hand he feels Erin is too good for him and on the other he wants nothing more than to be with her and do what is best for his child.
The journey the two go through is told from a perspective that you don't find in many books.
