Out of the four Green Lantern based series, that being the main story driven GL Hal Jordan/Sinestro title, the stand alone seres GL Corp. with Guy Gardner and John Stewart, and Red Lanterns doing their own thing...GL New Guardians is the most light-hearted and looser series of the four. Just Kyle Rayner and one of each member from the other light Spectrums coincidently banding together to solve a mystery of how and why each lantern ring were drawn to Kyle. It may not be a necessary series to read as part of the main story, but it is a fun series none the less and continues to do so.
GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS VOL.2: BEYOND HOPE collects issues #8-12 and BLUE BEETLE #9. After the ending in Green Lantern: New Guardians Vol. 1: The Ring Bearer (The New 52) (Green Lantern (Graphic Novels)), the group has a new mission of going after Larfleeze, but each member needs to recharge their rings before doing so and so split up. Arkillo finds out the truth what's become of Sinestro and his yellow lantern corps, Fatality looks into Invictus connections, and Saint Walker and his Blue Lanterns home world get invaded by the Reach, alien race of conquerors who use the Scarab powers like Blue Beetle. The blue lanterns have no allies to help while everyone else is away. Will Kyle's new group make it time or not?
As mentioned before, this series is all about big, colorful, flashy, action, and fun and this volume doesn't disappoint.

While not as good as the main Green Lantern title, New Guardians is still an enjoyable book that is used as a platform by Bedard to collect some of the most famous characters from the various colored light corps into one over-encompassing story. In this volume the most prominent members of the respective corps are searching for a set of missing power rings and trying to understand why their power batteries have been failing. The search takes them all over the known galaxy and ends in several climactic battles against such notables as Larfleeze, Invictus, and the alien fleet of The Reach. The story isn't quite as cohesive as I'd like, but it is what it is. There's a lot going on, here, and possibly too much to jam pack it all into one book, but it seems like the Green Lantern editorial staff are trying to bring together all of the various plot threads they have dangled over the past few years and bring them all together to tie them up.
Artwork on the book is - as usual - above par and some of the best you'll find on the store shelves. My one major issue with the art on this book is that Yellow Lantern Arkillo is colored with green skin in this book, while previous books have always colored him with grey skin. He also has a large, dangling tongue in this book, and he hasn't really had that too much in the past. Aside from these discrepancies, the art is very solid.
